Rehabilitative Training
Post Injury, Accident, Surgery, Aging or Elderly

If you are someone who has suffered from an injury or accident or are recovering from a surgery and want to regain full range of motion and rebuild strength, once you have been released by your physician to resume normal activities we can start working toward bringing you back better than ever. Often times physical therapy and/or rehab just aren't enough and leave individuals disappointed with the end results. You don't have to settle for the condition you are left in once your doctor prescribed or insurance approved rehab/physical therapy is complete. Are you one of the patients who did not diligently do the exercises prescribed to you by your doctor or rehab professional and now you wish you had? Are you currently under prescribed physical therapy and are not doing your rehab exercises or know you are not disciplined to do them on your own? I have many people who come to me to enforce their prescribed recovery exercise routine.

If you are an aging individual who is finding yourself losing balance, agility, coordination, strength, speed, endurance/stamina, alertness, reasoning skills, reaction time, quickness, we can drastically improve the situation and/or slow the process.

I HAVE MANY REFERENCES ON HAND!

YOGA
Find your balance: mind, body, and spirit

A weekly yoga class is currently offered on Thursday nights. We have two certified yoga instructors. Classes are capped at 15 people and a minimum of 24 hrs RSVP is necessary to reserve your spot. Classes are 1 hour. $12.00/class if paid week to week or $60.00 for 6 weeks if paid in full in advance. Some rules apply.

What is yoga? Yoga is not a religion nor is it "just a form of exercise." It is a total mind, body workout that combines strength and stretching poses with deep breathing and relaxation.  Besides the obvious stretching and flexibility benefits yoga also facilitates:

  • the attainment of perfect equilibrium and harmony
  • promotes self healing
  • removes negative blocks from the mind and toxins from the body
  • rejuvenates and energizes
  • Enhances Personal Power
  • increases self awareness
  • helps with attention, focus and concentration
  • reduces stress and tension

Our Yoga Instructors

Melanie St Johns

Melanie began practicing yoga over 10 years ago and was immediately impressed with how empowered she felt at the end of each class.  Finding inner strength in her body, she soon learned to harness that strength while off the mat (ask her about that sometime).  Melanie began her first teacher training with Frankie Hart in 2010, has recently trained in Holy Yoga and is currently training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga.

Melanie begins class with simple pranayama (breathing exercises) to calm the mind and cleanse the body, then to awaken the spine and warm up the body, moves on to a sun salutation series.  She continues with a series of stretching and strengthening poses (sitting and standing) that will align the body, breath and mind.  The class ends with deep relaxation to help you feel recharged, refreshed and energized.

Melanie encourages students to explore what is happening for them in mind, body, and spirit.  Noticing what is happening in the present moment in your own body is one of the gifts of yoga that she enjoys sharing.

Courtney white

Courtney was born and raised in Lake Wales, FL.  She took an interest in Yoga after moving to Saint Petersburg in 2009 while attending USF St Pete.  She has been practicing Yoga for ten years.  She completed her RYT 200 hour teacher training in 2015 with Jade Skinner and taught in the St. Pete area.  She recently moved back to her roots in Polk county and is excited to share this practice in the Lakeland area.  Her classes focus on building a strong foundation for a solid Yoga practice.

Meet Trainer Stacey

I am a 49 year old mother of two adult daughters and when I am not at the studio you may find me chasing after my toddler grandson.

I am a Lakeland native and 4th generation Lakeland business owner.

My dad was a WWII veteran and taught me hard work, integrity, discipline and organizational skills as well as the importance of relationship building and community.

I have always been very competitive in nature and enjoyed being active and playing many types of sports. From a very young age I enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, racing go karts, Weightlifting, striking, running, calisthenics, Tae Kwon Do, tennis, and dabbling in many other sports. I fell in love with the barbell at age 15 and Weightlifting continues to be my favorite hobby. As an adult I have actively pursued running, rucking, Weightlifting and CrossFit. God has blessed me with amazing health and fitness and I do not take it for granted. I have had the honor of completing 15+ GoRuck challenges, Ragnar Relay Races, countless road races, mud and obstacle course races. In 2013, I completed an 88 mile loaded ruck run from Deerfield Beach to Key Largo as well as a 100 mile Ultra Marathon, both to raise money and awareness for the Green Beret and Wounded Warrior foundations. My favorite event was the “Nasty Nick” obstacle course in Massanutten, VA.

I founded Primal Strength and Conditioning LLC in 2012 and started training others on my 3 acre property in North Lakeland. I worked as a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym in south Lakeland for five years as well as coached CrossFit at several local CrossFit gyms until August 2018 when I was blessed to see my dream of owning my own fitness studio come to fruition.

It is my desire and passion to help others reach their optimum health and fitness goals and to know what it feels like to accomplish things they never dreamed they could. I love experiencing the excitement and satisfaction of people of all ages and fitness levels when they see and feel themselves becoming stronger and fitter every day. I am a stickler for proper form and technique which you will soon appreciate as you find yourself quickly improving while remaining or becoming injury and pain free.

Whether you want to run faster, lift heavier, become stronger, lean out, add muscle mass or definition, become generally healthier or maintain your health and fitness as you age gracefully. I am here to coach, teach, educate, cheer you on, support and motivate you to reach your goals and maintain them.

My wish for all mankind is to know ultimate health, happiness, peace and fitness.

Testimonials

If you are looking for someone to help you reach your fitness goals.....

You should talk with Stacey. I have trained with her for over five years and now realize that I was wasting my time and money on the "big box" program. She started with an assessment of my goals and an evaluation of my physical condition. Before she agreed to train me, she suggested changes in my diet and giving up adult beverages. In fact, she said in the first discussion of a training program that she had no interest in taking me as a client if I could not stop drinking alcohol. Her exact comment was:"ïf you can’t give up alcohol, you are wasting your time and money". Stacey designs training programs for each individual. It is not one size for everyone, and she is there with a written program every day to make sure that you execute the exercises properly. I may never be able to do a hand stand push up, but I am doing things today that I did not think possible at my 72 years of age. Stacey makes physical fitness fun and most importantly gets results.

Dr. Dan Gunter

Using the skills Stacey taught me, I was able to drop 3 pant sizes...

I was one of Stacey’s guinea pig trainees when she first started Primal. We trained everywhere from public parks to her living room on the rainy days that we couldn’t be in her front yard. In our countless hours together, she not only taught me how to work out but also gave me confidence in what my body was capable of doing. Flash forward several years when I started traveling around the country as a nurse. I had much weight to lose from having my first baby and battling a year and a half of post-partum depression and anxiety. Using the skills Stacey taught me, I was able to build my own high intensity, full-body workouts that not only helped me drop 3 pant sizes in a matter of months but also helped reverse some effects of a hormonal disease process (long story short, I ended up pregnant when doctors said I probably wouldn’t be again!). Because of Stacey’s coaching, I learned to love to push my body to see what it is capable of rather than working out to punish myself for not being as thin or fit as someone else.
